WHAT IS CANNABIDIOL (CBD)?

Cannabidiol (CBD) is one of over 100 known phytocannabinoids (phyto = plant) found in the cannabis sativa plant. Unlike tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), CBD is non-intoxicating. It’s used used to treat many conditions, from anxiety, inflammation, pain, and insomnia, to seizures.

CBD boosts the body’s natural endocannabinoid system, which helps maintain balance - or homeostasis - throughout our physiology.

TYPES OF CBD EXTRACT

Full spectrum extracts include all of the cannabinoids and some terpenes (essential oils) present in the cannabis sativa plant. There is evidence that CBD is more effective when more cannabinoids and terpenes are present.  This is because cannabinoids and terpenes work together to enhance their effectiveness - a phenomenon known as the “entourage effect.”

Isolates contain only 99% pure CBD. Isolates are often produced using a fractional distillation process that removes CBD by targeting its specific boiling point.

ISOLATES

Broad spectrum extracts include all the cannabinoids and terpenes found in the cannabis sativa plant except THC. True broad-spectrum extract starts off as a full spectrum extract before THC is removed.
